Current Gear
I am currently using a Canon 7D mkll camera body and a Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM lens along with an Extender EF 1.4x III. I’m effectively shooting at 840mm, with the extender attached. When using an aps-c camera body, the 35mm equivalent is 1344mm. This combination is excellent! All of that equipment is usually attached to a tripod. I use an INNOREL RT-90C carbon fiber tripod with an Induro GHB2 Gimbal Head. I do handhold the setup, however, it is heavy and awkward with its size. I usually can’t do it for very long. I also have a Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM as a secondary bird lens, but I use it mostly for butterflies. The extreme close minimum focus distance makes it awesome for that. The 100-400 lens is extremely sharp!
I upgraded to the 600mm lens early this year, from the Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS USM. I had been using the 500mm lens the previous three years. Prior to the 500mm lens, I used both the Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM and Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lenses.

Gear for sale
I currently have a Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS USM for sale, $2800/obo. It was bought brand new, by a friend in 2009 and I purchased it from him in 2016. I’ve had it serviced yearly at Canon CPS. It comes with lens hood, lens cap and hard trunk case. It works perfectly. There are minor cosmetic marks from years of use. The outer glass has some very fine scratching, but nothing that affects the image quality, as this outer glass is a protection from the outer element. All the photos on this website between 2016-2019 were taken with that lens. There has been a LensCoat on it since purchased. Here are a few images of the lens and everything with it. If you’re interested in the lens, contact me through email, phone or text. Thank you.
